Our mission is to help our neighbors make it through. One day at a time.

Given was started by me, Iso Rabins, with the mission of helping push back against the tidal wave of need we’re experiencing right now in this country. I see it every day on the streets of Oakland. People who’ve worked hard, but because of forces often outside of their control, just can’t quite make it. Homeless people are the most visible, but Given is also for the hidden millions who struggle every day to make the bills. People who need just a little help to make it through. 

Given is made to be support for those that don't have it. We all know what it is to need to ask for help. Imagine if in those hard times there was no one to turn to, how that would have felt. Not charity, but the family member or neighbor who can help when things get tough. Let's come together and be that support for our neighbors. A little bit from all of us can do so much. With given we can really help people in the way we all want to. With Given you can help one person today. 

I have no illusions that Given will save every person in need; but if it can help a few, and show a few others that there are still people out there who care, it will have done its job.
